The Washington State Clean Buildings Act can be complicated and tricky to understand. Therefore we have identified two contacts who are at the forefront of this new law and are in the business of assisting building owners to navigate it. We believe these two people can be a great resource for building owners looking to find solutions in response to the Clean Buildings Act.

Michael James is an energy project manager for Custom Energy Consultants and is a licensed engineer and general contractor located in Liberty Lake. Custom Energy Consultant’s core business is helping building owners navigate this new law cost effectively, provide owners with different solutions, and help owners enact the solution that best fits their needs.

Below is a summary of what Custom Energy Consultant’s are telling Tier 1 building owners:

Scott Lawson of Spero Regeneration is a consultant, journeyman electrician (licensed in Washington and Idaho) and certified in Photovoltaic Systems (solar energy). He is well versed in sustainable and adaptive renewable energy options, building science, and the Washington Clean Buildings initiative and legislative requirements. His unique strategy may help mitigate the expenses for bringing buildings into compliance through solar energy.

We believe both contacts will be extremely valuable resources for owners trying to navigate the Clean Buildings Act in the coming years. It is important for owners of larger buildings to get the conversations going now, as the deadlines begin in 2026, and it can take time to implement cost-effective measures in order to be compliant.

Please reach out if you would like to connect with either of them, or if you have any further questions.
